What Do I Need to Build a Website?

What Do I Need to Build a Website - NuggetWeb.com

Often times when we meet with people, they don’t really know what they need to get their web site going.  They are very good at what they do, they just have no knowledge how to design and manage the online aspect of their business.  What Do I Need to Build a Website - NuggetWeb.comOften times, their first question is, “what do I need for my web site?”, and here are the answers.

A Host
A web host is your location on the internet.  You can think about this like you would a piece of property, where the server is the place (or the “ground”) that your web site, (or your “house”) occupies.  The host is the entity that manages the property and allows the web page to exist on the web.  Because servers aren’t cheap, there is a cost to the host, which is passed on to you as monthly hosting fees.

A Design
Unless you’re just starting out, chances are good that you already own your business.  If that’s true, then all of the hard work has already been done.  The logo has been designed and the marketing literature has already been created, making it easier to extend that to the internet.  Your design for your website is just an extension of what you may already have.  If you are just starting out, then this is your opportunity to really create something special that will draw your customers in and make them want to seek you out.

A Way to Maintain It
From time to time, you’ll want to update your site by adding information, making changes to text or pictures or maybe even adding a weekly article to keep your customers interested.  Your website should come equipped with a way to make that happen, whether it’s a built in WordPress interface, or an HTML editor, you should be able to access your site and make the changes you feel you need to improve your site.
